I hope you enjoy all three types of water macro images taken by these budding professionals in my first Comm 316 class ever. It seems the title of this course is quite fitting for this first amazing group of students: Professional Imaging.
ANNOUNCEMENT – FIVE MACRO MASTERS – ONE BIG WINNER: Katie Anderson!
I had five students accept the challenge of becoming a Macro Master and capture at least two nice images in all five different macro styles that I introduced to the class while on our second weekend photo excursion. Those styles are:
1. Still Life; 2. Flora & Fauna; 3. Macro Droplet – Fisheye Lens; 4. Water Splash Sequence; 5. Water and Ink Swirls (Note: this post shows some highlights of the last three categories.. all three water-related styles)
The five Macro Masters are:
Katie Anderson, Danny Morgan, AJ Buruca, Jenny Bullock and Chantelle Zenger
After much deliberation, the prize goes to Katie Anderson for her winning collection of images! Katie has won a new set of Macro Extension Tubes or new YN 560 Flash unit. Congrats, Katie and all theMacro Masters! You did it all 🙂
Katie Anderson sets up a droplet to serve as a mini fisheye lens into a world in miniature.
AJ Buruca has impeccable timing when he snaps the shutter to freeze this falling water drop with mini scene captured inside!
Another great capture by AJ with this crystal clear photo droplet just before it falls.
Jenny shows a miniature scene of the fruit behind… inside these water droplets.
Adrianna Teerlink bathes this water splash crown in the warmest glow of color imaginable as she tries out the famous Time Machine!
Rebecca Johnston uses two different gelled flashes bringing in side light on her triple water drop effect.
Chris Luke tries the purple and yellow gels to light up his flashes with a complimentary color scheme
Danny Morgan adds come red food coloring to the water drop to get this striking effect
Julie Peterson captures the rare “baby crown” to the side of its papa crown in this bright duet of color and light
Chantelle Zenger releases some red dye to get this “red blood cell” formation in clear water against a white poster board and bright flash
Jenny Bullock adds some cool dyes to get this 70s rock and roll party going on
AJ Buruca brings yellow in to mix the warm and cool sides of the spectrum
